Poet and writer Alex Wharton presents Bright Lives, a powerful poetry project celebrating the lives of nine historic Black figures who helped shape Wales. Through vivid, accessible poems, Wharton brings these overlooked stories into the light, honouring individuals whose contributions have too often been erased from mainstream history. This moving and affirming event combines poetry with social history, inviting audiences to reflect on identity, belonging and Wales’s diverse past. The book is aimed at young adults, but this talk will be an inspiration to people of all ages.
